Custom Orthotics in Calgary: Relieve Pain & Restore Your Mobility
If foot pain, heel pain, knee discomfort, or difficulty walking is affecting your daily life, custom orthotics may provide the support and relief you need. At our Calgary area clinics, we offer professionally fitted custom orthotics designed to improve foot function, enhance alignment, and help you move more comfortably.
Custom orthotics or custom insoles are created specifically for your feet, gait, and biomechanics. Unlike over-the-counter insoles, they are designed to address the underlying factors contributing to pain and movement dysfunction. By providing targeted support to the feet and lower limbs, custom orthotics can help reduce stress on the feet, ankles, knees, hips, and lower back while promoting more efficient movement.
What Conditions Can Custom Orthotics Help Treat?
Custom orthotics can be an effective treatment option for a wide range of foot, ankle, knee, and lower-body conditions, including:
- Plantar Fasciitis
- Heel Pain
- Achilles Tendinitis
- Flat Feet (Pes Planus)
- High Arches
- Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome (Runner’s Knee)
- Shin Splints
- Lower Back Pain Related to Poor Foot Mechanics
Assessment & Orthotics Recommendation
Comprehensive Assessment and Gait Analysis
Our practitioner will assess your feet, ankles, and knees. They will also look at how you walk (gait) and your posture to identify the particular customizations your orthotics will require to ensure you are aligned and pain-free.
Personalized Orthotics Designed for Your Feet
Once your assessment is complete, your practitioner will discuss the findings and recommend the most appropriate orthotic solution. Detailed measurements and impressions of your feet are used to create custom orthotics tailored specifically to your anatomy and movement patterns.
Did You Know Some Of Our Alberta Locations Offer Foot Levers® Custom Orthotics?
Your feet are the foundation of your body. When that foundation is unbalanced, the effects can be felt throughout your entire body—from your ankles and knees to your hips and lower back. At Optimum Wellness Centres, we are proud to offer Foot Levelers® custom orthotics, designed to help you regain balance, comfort, and stability.
The Foot Levelers® Difference
Unlike generic over-the-counter insoles, Foot Levelers® are not “one size fits all.” Because your feet are as unique as your fingerprints, our orthotics are crafted from a precise digital scan of your feet. This advanced technology creates an accurate 3D map, allowing us to fabricate personalized inserts that support your specific foot structure and unique movement patterns.

Calgary Custom Orthotics FAQs
WHAT TYPE OF SHOES DO I NEED FOR MY CUSTOM ORTHOTICS?
Typically, any shoe with a removable insole is suitable for your custom orthotics. Simply remove the insoles from your shoes and replace them with your orthotics!
For this reason, shoes like high heels or sandals are not suitable for orthotics.
HOW LONG DO I NEED TO WEAR MY CUSTOM ORTHOTICS FOR?
Your Pedorthist will prescribe a specific timeframe to wear your orthotics, starting at regular intervals. Orthotics may feel uncomfortable at first as they are working to realign your foot and ankle joints.
WHAT TYPES OF CUSTOM ORTHOTICS ARE THERE?
Orthotics come in a variety of materials, from rigid plastic to more flexible, cushioned materials. Typically, they come in full-shoe inserts that fit inside most shoes. Other styles include a smaller heel insert that fits the back cup of the shoe and ankle-foot orthotics that extend upward around the calf.
Your Pedorthist will recommend the style that will work best for you and may suggest using orthotics in conjunction with taping or other braces.
WHAT CAN CUSTOM ORTHOTICS BE USED TO TREAT?
Orthotics can be used to treat a myriad of foot problems. Some of the problems most commonly treated are:
- Arthritis
- Back pain
- Bunions
- Bursitis
- Diabetes
- Flat feet
- Hammer toes
- Heel spurs
- High arches
- Injuries
- Plantar fasciitis

SUCCESSFUL STORIES
Realiza of Sunridge location is highly recommended for her massage skills. She takes time to understand client’s concern and offers an effective approach to address them.

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Jackie Fairbourn for over 8 years and I highly recommend her as an amazingly gifted healing facilitator. She continues to impress me with her openness to adding gentle healing approaches to her extensive chiropractic skill set. Lately I have particularly enjoyed the tension-relieving benefits resulting from receiving Body Code, Emotional Code and now, Network Care. I appreciate her calm, informed and intuitive healing support.

I was referred by a friend to Jency Henry Physiotherapist at Macleod trail Optimum for my back pain. She is amazing, she knows what she is doing. She was explaining during the assessment and treatment session about what are my issues and what needs to be treated or taken care. I was very satisfied about her approach in treating my pain. I came to understand about my body better like my weakness and tightness. I feel very light as if most of my weight has been off from my back after my session.

Just have to thank Dr. Nina!!! The chiropractic care I receive is outstanding and with such precision and creativity! I have an autoimmune condition called Scleroderma which causes extreme mis-alignment and muscle/joint pain. After an adjustment I feel amazing and helps me to cope with the symtoms so I don’t have to take pharmaceuticals that often. Also, I notice my low blood pressure is back to normal since I have been seeing Dr. Nina. I am so relieved I can start up my adjustments again. I have referred my nieces, my sister, and my friend and they all are of the same opinion!! Dr. Nina is my Chiropractor for life!!!

I highly recommend Nicole, I had my first massage with her today and it was very relaxing and took a lot of the stress out of my body from the last few months. I felt very comfortable with Nicole, she is easy going, respectful and professional. It was just the perfect combination of touch and light conversation at the right time. I will most definitely be going back to Nicole in the future.

Made the mistake of going to another provider based on them open on Saturday, what a mistake. Minimal relieve and care. I returned to Dr. Jamie Mulholland in Airdrie and what a difference. Hips line up, pain on standing gone, not hunched over due to lower and upper back pain, headaches relieve in the first visit back to Dr. Jamie. Won’t venture away again.
