Custom orthotics are specially designed shoe inserts that help alleviate foot pain. Foot pain or difficulty walking due to discomfort is not normal and should be addressed appropriately to ensure your feet, knees, hips, and ankles are adequately cared for.
Our premium orthotic manufacturer focuses on activating the flexor muscle group through gait, providing substantial mobility. Our orthotics have been proven effective in treating various foot conditions such as Plantar Fasciitis, patellofemoral syndrome, Achilles tendinitis, and many more.
When you visit Optimum Wellness Centres for a consultation, you will be met with friendly staff to check and make sure that all of your required information is on file. We will then have a no-obligation conversation about why you seek treatment and what you want to get out of it.
Your health history and lifestyle will then be discussed to pinpoint the underlying cause for your pain or discomfort. We will discuss any other problems you’re experiencing so we can properly assess your feet and determine if orthotics may work for you.
After discussing your problem areas, your Pedorthist will perform a physical exam of your feet, looking for abnormalities or deformities. They may get you to perform some basic activities, like walking or balancing, to see what may be causing your discomfort.
In some cases, your Pedorthist may recommend that you have special imaging or diagnostic tests done to get a better view of your feet. They may recommend x-rays, bone scans, or MRIs to identify arthritis, bone damage, or injury.
If your Pedorthist determines that custom orthotics are a good option for you, they will discuss them in detail so you are informed and prepared. Your custom orthotics will be made to fit, typically using a mould. Once made, your Pedorthist will recommend appropriate shoes to ensure they fit correctly.
After being fit with orthotics, you will be asked to come back for a follow-up appointment to ensure your orthotics are comfortable.
Orthotics can be used to treat a myriad of foot problems. Some of the problems most commonly treated are:
Your Pedorthist will prescribe a specific timeframe to wear your orthotics, starting at regular intervals. Orthotics may feel uncomfortable at first as they are working to realign your foot and ankle joints.
Orthotics come in a variety of materials, from rigid plastic to more flexible, cushioned materials. Typically, they come in full-shoe inserts that fit inside most shoes. Other styles include a smaller heel insert that fits the back cup of the shoe and ankle-foot orthotics that extend upward around the calf.
Your Pedorthist will recommend the style that will work best for you and may suggest using orthotics in conjunction with taping or other braces.
Typically, any shoe with a removable insole is suitable for your custom orthotics. Simply remove the insoles from your shoes and replace them with your orthotics!
For this reason, shoes like high heels or sandals are not suitable for orthotics.
I was referred by a friend to Jency Henry Physiotherapist at Macleod trail Optimum for my back pain. She is amazing, she knows what she is doing. She was explaining during the assessment and treatment session about what are my issues and what needs to be treated or taken care. I was very satisfied about her approach in treating my pain. I came to understand about my body better like my weakness and tightness. I feel very light as if most of my weight has been off from my back after my session.
Just have to thank Dr. Nina!!! The chiropractic care I receive is outstanding and with such precision and creativity! I have an autoimmune condition called Scleroderma which causes extreme mis-alignment and muscle/joint pain. After an adjustment I feel amazing and helps me to cope with the symtoms so I don’t have to take pharmaceuticals that often. Also, I notice my low blood pressure is back to normal since I have been seeing Dr. Nina. I am so relieved I can start up my adjustments again. I have referred my nieces, my sister, and my friend and they all are of the same opinion!! Dr. Nina is my Chiropractor for life!!!
I highly recommend Nicole, I had my first massage with her today and it was very relaxing and took a lot of the stress out of my body from the last few months. I felt very comfortable with Nicole, she is easy going, respectful and professional. It was just the perfect combination of touch and light conversation at the right time. I will most definitely be going back to Nicole in the future.
Made the mistake of going to another provider based on them open on Saturday, what a mistake. Minimal relieve and care. I returned to Dr. Jamie Mulholland in Airdrie and what a difference. Hips line up, pain on standing gone, not hunched over due to lower and upper back pain, headaches relieve in the first visit back to Dr. Jamie. Won’t venture away again.
Realiza of Sunridge location is highly recommended for her massage skills. She takes time to understand client’s concern and offers an effective approach to address them.
I’ve been a patient of Dr. Jackie Fairbourn for over 8 years and I highly recommend her as an amazingly gifted healing facilitator. She continues to impress me with her openness to adding gentle healing approaches to her extensive chiropractic skill set. Lately I have particularly enjoyed the tension-relieving benefits resulting from receiving Body Code, Emotional Code and now, Network Care. I appreciate her calm, informed and intuitive healing support.
