Graston therapy is a treatment that requires the use of an instrument to massage and stimulate your soft tissue. Physiotherapists, chiropractors, and other professionals use this treatment to identify areas of the body with limited mobility and to break down some scar tissue.
Through the use of Graston therapy, providers attempt to reduce pain and discomfort, improve your range of motion, and aid your soft tissue in its healing process after an injury. This method is supported by empirical and anecdotal evidence.
When you visit Optimum Wellness Centres for a consultation, you will be met with friendly staff to check and make sure that all of your required information is on file. We will then have a no-obligation conversation about why you seek treatment and what you want to get out of it.
Your health history and lifestyle will then be discussed to pinpoint the underlying cause for your pain or discomfort.
The professional working with you will ask about your pain points, mobility issues, and other symptoms contributing to your condition. If they determine you have a soft tissue injury or some restriction in your connective tissue, they may try the Graston technique.
The instruments used for Graston technique are designed to detect restrictions in your connective tissue. Using the appropriate Graston tool, your practitioner will treat the affected area.
On average, patients typically see results within 3-4 sessions. However, every case is different. Your practitioner will make recommendations based on your unique needs.
This therapy is often recommended for certain types of repetitive strain injuries like:
The instruments used for this method are very unique. Their design features a bevelled edge, which allows treatment providers to feel for the presence of scarring in your connective tissue.
Yes! Studies show that when applied by a trained practitioner, this type of therapy can increase range of motion and decrease soft tissue-related pain.
Graston therapy is meant to be accessible to all who may need it, so you do not need a doctor’s referral to access treatment.
I was referred by a friend to Jency Henry Physiotherapist at Macleod trail Optimum for my back pain. She is amazing, she knows what she is doing. She was explaining during the assessment and treatment session about what are my issues and what needs to be treated or taken care. I was very satisfied about her approach in treating my pain. I came to understand about my body better like my weakness and tightness. I feel very light as if most of my weight has been off from my back after my session.
Just have to thank Dr. Nina!!! The chiropractic care I receive is outstanding and with such precision and creativity! I have an autoimmune condition called Scleroderma which causes extreme mis-alignment and muscle/joint pain. After an adjustment I feel amazing and helps me to cope with the symtoms so I don’t have to take pharmaceuticals that often. Also, I notice my low blood pressure is back to normal since I have been seeing Dr. Nina. I am so relieved I can start up my adjustments again. I have referred my nieces, my sister, and my friend and they all are of the same opinion!! Dr. Nina is my Chiropractor for life!!!
I highly recommend Nicole, I had my first massage with her today and it was very relaxing and took a lot of the stress out of my body from the last few months. I felt very comfortable with Nicole, she is easy going, respectful and professional. It was just the perfect combination of touch and light conversation at the right time. I will most definitely be going back to Nicole in the future.
Made the mistake of going to another provider based on them open on Saturday, what a mistake. Minimal relieve and care. I returned to Dr. Jamie Mulholland in Airdrie and what a difference. Hips line up, pain on standing gone, not hunched over due to lower and upper back pain, headaches relieve in the first visit back to Dr. Jamie. Won’t venture away again.
Realiza of Sunridge location is highly recommended for her massage skills. She takes time to understand client’s concern and offers an effective approach to address them.
I’ve been a patient of Dr. Jackie Fairbourn for over 8 years and I highly recommend her as an amazingly gifted healing facilitator. She continues to impress me with her openness to adding gentle healing approaches to her extensive chiropractic skill set. Lately I have particularly enjoyed the tension-relieving benefits resulting from receiving Body Code, Emotional Code and now, Network Care. I appreciate her calm, informed and intuitive healing support.
