IV vitamin therapy has been around since the 1970s when Dr. John Myers developed the still-popular Myers cocktail. IV vitamin therapy comes with an incredible list of health benefits. It can boost your immune system, improve your skin and natural glow, provide you with a quick hangover cure, and treat various health conditions.
IV vitamin therapy works by providing an infusion of vitamins and minerals directly through your veins, bypassing the digestive system. When vitamins are taken by mouth, only 50% of them are absorbed by the body. However, 90% of vitamins and minerals administered by IV are absorbed by the body.
IV vitamin therapy has fantastic therapeutic effects that improve one’s overall feeling of health and well-being. If you are interested in learning more about how IV vitamin therapy can help you, please book your consultation today.
When you visit Optimum Wellness for a consultation, you will be met with friendly staff who will check and make sure that your required information is on file. We will then have a no-obligation conversation about why you seek treatment and what you want to get out of it.
We’ll have a detailed health history and lifestyle discussion to pinpoint the areas where IV therapy will best benefit you.
After our detailed discussion, we may perform some gentle testing to better understand your overall health and wellness. We’ll discuss these tests before so you know what to expect. We’ll also use this time to discuss what you can expect during an IV therapy treatment.
Once we fully understand your needs, goals, and expectations, we’ll customize a treatment plan specific to you. You’ll work directly with your naturopathic doctor, who will ensure your treatment helps you reach your wellness goals and makes you feel your ultimate best.
Every IV treatment is different from the next. We’ll discuss our recommendations with you during your consultation.
IV therapy has been used to improve many conditions, including:
IV drip bags are fully customized to the individual patient, and so your cocktail will likely differ from others.
To give you an idea, however, the Myers cocktail generally contains a mixture of vitamin C and B vitamins, magnesium, and calcium.
Some people experience mild pain at the injection point, but the treatment itself shouldn’t be painful. We do everything in our power to ensure your treatments are as comfortable and pain-free as possible.
IV therapy is generally very safe. We use sterile equipment and materials, and your treatment is performed and monitored by your trained naturopathic doctor in our safe, clean, welcoming environment.
IV therapy is mildly invasive because it’s administered directly into your veins and does come with some risks. We’ll discuss these with you before your first treatment.
Your therapy frequency will depend on your unique health, goals, and wellness plan. Once we understand your overall health, we can recommend a frequency schedule we believe will benefit you most.
If you’re feeling an improvement or need an extra boost, we can change your plan to suit your symptoms.
The best way to prepare for your treatment is to eat and stay well hydrated. Drinking lots of water before your appointment will make your veins easier to access, and eating a decent meal will reduce your chances of becoming lightheaded.
We strive to make your IV therapy appointment as enjoyable as possible. Indeed, use this alone time to relax and enjoy the experience. Listen to some music, bring a book, or take a little nap. This time is purely for you!
Your naturopathic doctor will prepare your personalized IV solution before or at the beginning of your appointment. The IV line will be started by inserting a small needle, which is removed once the line is in. Your naturopathic doctor monitors you throughout the procedure, and you can always call us in if you need us. After your drip is complete, your naturopathic doctor will check your vitals before you go home.
Your appointment can take between 30 minutes to an hour.
The side effects of IV therapy are low but do occasionally occur. For example, some people may experience bruising or swelling at the infusion site, and others may experience a sensation of heat if their IV drip is administered too quickly.
We’ll be sure to discuss any possible side effects with you before your appointment. Your naturopathic doctor will closely monitor your procedure, and all your vitals will be checked after to ensure you’re stable and healthy.
We currently do not treat cancer patients or people who are pregnant.
Some patients with chronic or severe kidney, heart, or liver disease may not benefit from IV therapy. Your naturopathic doctor will evaluate your overall health and recommend treatment based one your unique needs during your consultation.
I was referred by a friend to Jency Henry Physiotherapist at Macleod trail Optimum for my back pain. She is amazing, she knows what she is doing. She was explaining during the assessment and treatment session about what are my issues and what needs to be treated or taken care. I was very satisfied about her approach in treating my pain. I came to understand about my body better like my weakness and tightness. I feel very light as if most of my weight has been off from my back after my session.
Just have to thank Dr. Nina!!! The chiropractic care I receive is outstanding and with such precision and creativity! I have an autoimmune condition called Scleroderma which causes extreme mis-alignment and muscle/joint pain. After an adjustment I feel amazing and helps me to cope with the symtoms so I don’t have to take pharmaceuticals that often. Also, I notice my low blood pressure is back to normal since I have been seeing Dr. Nina. I am so relieved I can start up my adjustments again. I have referred my nieces, my sister, and my friend and they all are of the same opinion!! Dr. Nina is my Chiropractor for life!!!
I highly recommend Nicole, I had my first massage with her today and it was very relaxing and took a lot of the stress out of my body from the last few months. I felt very comfortable with Nicole, she is easy going, respectful and professional. It was just the perfect combination of touch and light conversation at the right time. I will most definitely be going back to Nicole in the future.
Made the mistake of going to another provider based on them open on Saturday, what a mistake. Minimal relieve and care. I returned to Dr. Jamie Mulholland in Airdrie and what a difference. Hips line up, pain on standing gone, not hunched over due to lower and upper back pain, headaches relieve in the first visit back to Dr. Jamie. Won’t venture away again.
Realiza of Sunridge location is highly recommended for her massage skills. She takes time to understand client’s concern and offers an effective approach to address them.
I’ve been a patient of Dr. Jackie Fairbourn for over 8 years and I highly recommend her as an amazingly gifted healing facilitator. She continues to impress me with her openness to adding gentle healing approaches to her extensive chiropractic skill set. Lately I have particularly enjoyed the tension-relieving benefits resulting from receiving Body Code, Emotional Code and now, Network Care. I appreciate her calm, informed and intuitive healing support.
